Oracle and Google may not get to go at each come Halloween depriving onlookers of a real treat.
District Court Judge William Alsup told the pair Monday that the trial may have to be postponed.
It all depends on whether a “large criminal” trial starts, as scheduled, on October 17. If it doesn’t then Oracle v Google will pick a jury on October 19 and the trial will start October 31.

JSF is the standard UI technology in Java EE, but on its own, it lacks tools for effectively building real-world rich enterprise applications. RichFaces 4, an open source extension for JSF, fills this development gap. RichFaces Core provides major enhancements for Ajax request customization, rendering and execution options, the JSF client queue, and more. RichFaces UI provides a large number of rich out-of-the-box components. RichFaces Skins makes it possible to change the look and feel of entire applications on the fly. The RichFacesComponent Development Kit streamlines building custom components. read more
As someone who learns best by example, I’ve been encouraged by the number of new projects being started that use SproutCore 2.0 under the hood. There are new developers in the IRC channel, the mailing lists, asking questions on Twitter, and it’s been rewarding to watch adoption take off. That said, one of the biggest [...]
SoftLayer Technologies on Tuesday announced that the company experienced continued operational and financial growth in the second quarter of 2011, hitting all new records. Along with other achievements, the company earned $83 million in revenue for the period.
“This has been the greatest quarter of growth in our history,” said Lance Crosby, Chief Executive Officer for SoftLayer. “From the innovations we bring to market to our corporate performance and beyond, SoftLayer believes in setting challenging goals and then working harder than belief to attain them. I’m exceptionally proud of the effort from all levels and functions across our company.”read more</p
I could tell you to use SproutCore for every single web destination you build, but that would be disingenuous. SproutCore is built to address a certain class of applications that need the help of its robust binding and observer layer, as well as its ecosystem of packages (DataStore, gesture support, etc). There are other classes of applications [...]

District Court Judge William Alsup told Google Monday that it can’t come in at this late date – after facts discovery has pretty much closed – with what he called an “entire fleet” of additional claims that Oracle’s Java patents are invalid.
Oracle was ordered to winnow its beloved 132 claims down to 50 by June 1. Google was supposed to take its best shot at them by June 15.
The judge didn’t much care how long Google dithered around saying it “suggests a lack of diligence.”
“It is possible,” he wrote, “that Google simply did not have that many good invalidity theories and is now trying to fill in with whatever it can belatedly cobble together.” read more
